The time is NOW...
The first recorded cricket match to take place in Bermuda occurred on August 30th, 1884. From those early days until now, cricket has become very popular in Bermuda and across the globe. The sport has been steeped in tradition and cultivated with a deliberate effort by Bermudians. This has produced first class legends, Alma “Champ” Hunt, Clarence “Tuppence” Parfitt and more recently, Delray Rawlins.
2007 stands out as a high point of pride for Bermudians, when the local team qualified for the 2007 World Cup. A feat many would have called impossible from such a small island in the Atlantic. Now closely followed by 2023, when our country hosted the ICC Men’s T20 Americas Qualifiers. With the attention gained, the time to build on these events and provide a quality platform for our leading players is right now.
The way forward is Twenty20 Cricket (T20). This form of cricket has resulted in more explosive players, increased spectator excitement and is designed to entice a new generation of cricket fans. Before us is an opportunity to combine international interest in cricket with Bermuda’s idyllic beauty, to create an irresistible event package.
